Term 3 - CAS CAS CAS

Words can scarcely describe the thrills and chills I've had during term 3. I mean, it's been pretty good so far, and right now, life looks like it'll just keep getting better.

Chinatown Parade for Chinese New Years (4hrs) service

Performed at Gateway Theater with the RYCB and RHS Jazz Bands ( 5 hours ) Creativity

British Columbian Cadet Honour Band ( 10 days - CAS)

Orienteering ( April 18th, 6 hours) - Action

Battle of the Atlantic Parade - 3 hours - Service

Sailing - 18 hours - Action

As you can see, the third term has been extremely busy as this has been juggled along with the rest of the taskings assigned by the school courses. Of particular note is the BC Cadet Honour Band, an excursion where cadets from all three elements, Sea, Army and Air, are drawn in from all over the province to form an advanced band. We had three days of intensive rehearsals, and spent the rest of the days touring all over British Columbia. It was an amazing experience and has changed my perspective of what being a musician is truly like. I have met so many amazing people and had such incredible memories from that excursion.

Swim team also starts again soon, so more action will be coming soon.

Term 2 - a term filled with excitement and epiphanies

Term 2 has been a wild term, especially with the Olympics fast approaching. For Creativity, I've been working on rather challenging pieces for both piano and trombone, in an attempt to develop my skills and get a feel for certain styles that I don't usually play. In particular, classical trombone music is incredibly hard to me, but it is getting easier. For Action, DPA requirements are being filled, but during these cold winter months it is a little harder. However, with the Swim Club starting up again soon, the total minimum Action requirement will be fulfilled without a hitch. For Service, Cadets has a lot of activities and a lot of parades, and partaking in the Ozone Massed Choir with 3,500 other people is extremely interesting. Standing guard for Rick Hansen at the Richmond Torch Relay ceremony with other Sea Cadets, attending the new start-up of a brand new Corps (Invincible) in Maple Ridge, and attending the opening ceremony as a participant on Feb. 12th are just some of these.

CAS Proposal

To whom it may concern- hello! This is my IB CAS proposal written up right here.

As a participant of events supported by Student Council, Colts that Care, a member of the Richmond Youth Concert Band, the RHS Swim Team, and a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets - through routine activities and planned events, I should have well over fifty hours for each component of CAS by the end of this year, let alone two. With community service filling Service, music-related programs filling Creativity, and the swim team filling Action, with Cadet activities where applicable, I should have the CAS requirements done many times over by the end of IB. More updates will be given.
